Pros of a Coworking Space:
1. Networking
To state the obvious, Coworking is one the best places where one can work together even if they are not working for the same company. People come together from different backgrounds and networks. This helps them in two ways. One, it fulfills them emotionally to a great extent and helps them climb their careers too. For Extroverts, networking is a stronghold. These people thrive in a social environment. But if we look at a very introverted person, seeing people socialize daily and not having a quiet space can be discouraging.
Even if there are fewer amenities in the space, Extroverts thrive on human interaction. That’s their priority. They want to network all the time. Make sure you understand this very clearly.
2. Amenities
This is something that works for everyone. Having top-notch amenities in a coworking space is a must for everyone, especially people who want comfort and don’t like to adjust. The coworking spaces are full of amenities like printers, fax machines, photocopy machines, recreation centers, lounge areas like our Moroccan Lounge, a cafeteria, a canteen, and everything professionals might require while working. Thus it offers the ease of working and all the necessary amenities for a comfortable experience.
3. Working Environment
This is important because, today, people don’t want to work like our parents used to. Well, let me elaborate a little further.
Our parents have worked hard, and that too in callous times. And the reason why this is important is that they adjusted themselves to the situation around them and didn’t care about anything else. But in today’s case, people hardly change. For them, everything should fall just in place. Today people prefer comfort over work. So they will be willing to pay a higher price to get their surroundings right.
4. Cost Savings
Another advantage that Coworking has is that they are highly cost-effective. If you’re a freelancer, then the only way this part would be advantageous is that you will only spend a little on traveling. You can get a decent coworking space near your home.
If you’re a business owner, having your employees at a coworking space will save you around 10-30% of the operational cost, which is enormous. These are one of the best ways to save a ton of money that could be better utilized. Many people also choose Virtual Office to reduce their cost and help their employees to have more personal
5. Scalability
Look at WeWork. It has become such a mammoth. Though they are bleeding money now due to their failed planning, it teaches us that coworking space has considerable potential for scaling into a multi-billion dollar business. WeWork even became one of the world’s most valued privately held companies. This show the generous scale of the Coworking industry. Now, especially for business owners, this can help them to scale well in no time. They can set up offices in distant places without owning any real estate. This can reap enormous benefits for everyone, the employee and business owner.
Cons of Coworking Space
1. Lack of Privacy
Well, when people from different fields come together and share their knowledge and skills, the other side of it can indeed be disadvantageous to some people too. For example, a company that wants to implement a specific business plan effectively needs privacy with its employees. But in a coworking space, people can quickly check out your work. In addition, laptops are open enough for others to know what you’re working on. So this is one of the most significant disadvantages when you opt for a coworking community.
2. Poaching of Employees
Meeting and creating a network is natural when there are many people in one place. This network helps you know influential people in your industry or area. Now the problem is that, if you’re a business owner, there are chances that your employee can switch with the other company in no time. So poaching employees becomes the main issue when working in a coworking space.
3. Security issue
People who work on Data are involved in privileged and confidential information exchange and must know one thing at coworking space, the internet is provided with or without wire and is not secure enough. So this data can be breached easily and potentially reveal your business model or secret important for your business.
4. Distraction
Working at a coworking place can be highly distracting for people who want to focus on work. In addition, the area can become noisy with coworkers, making one lose focus often. This can sometimes lower your productivity. Also, many young professionals, especially in the creative field, can be a little troublesome for people in a solemn profession like Law or Banking.
5. Unprofessional Image
For business owners with a long-term vision, having a coworking space as your location can create an unprofessional image. When a company begins to scale itself, it will surely opt for personal real estate then operating in a Coworking space. In this sense, Coworking can be good for a small business owner or freelancer. However, if you want to build a professional image for your business, then Coworking is a bad thing in the long term.
Conclusion
Again, I suggest that you understand what you need. Do not look at these Pros and Cons from a general point of view. So you must make a thorough analysis of yourself and ask yourself what it is that’s important for you. And then, when you look at these pros and cons, you’ll have better clarity of how coworking space might benefit you.
